Best marketing advice I've ever received

The best piece of advice I got was from a former VP of marketing. At the time I was working on a new project and was struggling to find the right metrics that needed to be increased in order to help me reach the goal.

His advice was to focus on the three most important KPIs, find the top three key metrics that have the biggest impact, however KPIs that the marketing team can influence without requiring any intervention from other teams or departments, and focus on the growth of these 3 metrics.

His advice has helped immensely as for any project there's a huge amount of data available, and without having a clear idea of which metrics to focus on and what moves the needle, it would have taken us much longer to reach our goals.
